CORNAREA

Roero Arneis DOCG CORNAREA

+ More information

The Cornarea Wine Producing Company is located next to Canale, in the heart of the Roero area and on the sides of the historic Cornarea Hill whose name goes back to the year 1000.

The company disposes of 15 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Areneis and Nebbiolo.

Here, towards the mid 70s, Piero Bovone and Francesca Rapetti first planted an ancient white autochthonous grape of the Roero area that had almost disappeared: the Arneis, recovering it form few rows that still existed within the Nebbiolo and Barbera vineyards.

Those same vineyards, which are now in the prime of their lives, are still presently producing the grapes of the Roero Arneis Cornarea.

Piero and Francesca have now been joined by their sons, the oenologist Gian Nicola Bovone and Pierfranco Bovone, a lawyer.

Together they have taken up the mission of protecting the Cornarea tradition and maintaining quality in the production of Roero Arneis and Tarasco Passito Arneis, and also that of Roero docg and Nebbiolo d'Alba, the great red wines produced on the left side of the Tanaro river.
